Mobilink and Samsung jointly launch Galaxy Tablet in Pakistan
Islamabad: December 21, 2010 – Mobilink, Pakistan’s market leader in cellular services and a part of Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) in collaboration with Samsung Electronics, a global market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, semiconductors and telecommunications, today launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab, a compact tablet computer in Pakistan.

Available through Mobilink sales and service centers in major Pakistani metropolitan cities, the Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with free GPRS for 3 months on the Mobilink network as well as a complimentary leather book cover.
Samsung Galaxy Tab, a compact tablet computer, uses the Google operating system Android 2.2 (Froyo). Featuring a 7-inch (180 mm) TFT-LCD touch-screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, a GPS chip, a 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 ("Hummingbird") processor, and a Swype input system, the Mobilink Samsung Galaxy Tab is also equipped with a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash. audio formats (MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA, AMR-NB/WB, FLAC, WAV, AC3, MIDI, RTTTL/RTX, OTA, I-MELODY, SP-MIDI). Its standard battery has the capacity to play up to 7 hours of video and more than 10 hours of talk time.
The Tab supports Adobe Flash 10.1 offering varying multimedia content accessibility to the user, DivX, MPEG-4, WMV and Xvid (H.263, H.264). IT also features a calendar, email and instant messaging applications. A launcher for e-reading applications starts Press Display (an online newspaper kiosk) when reading newspapers, Kobo (e-book reader) when reading e-books, and Zinio (a publishing technology and services company) when reading magazines.
Mobilink has remained abreast of technology trends by launching new and innovative products in the Pakistani market. The company was the first cellular operator to launch BlackBerry in Pakistan. Providing BlackBerry Services and 360 degree after sales support to thousands of indigo customers, it is also the only operator working directly with the manufacturers RIM (Research in Motion).
