Mobilink launches ‘Chup’ - new album of Zeb & Haniya

Islamabad: July 19, 2008 - Mobilink, the country’s market leader in cellular communication services with more than 32 million customers and a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom today announced an exclusive sponsorship of crooners’ Zeb & Hanya’s new Album “Chup” in collaboration with GEO TV Network. The band along with the dignitaries of Mobilink & GEO TV Network was present to share their feelings about this long awaited album at a press conference hosted in Karachi.

Zeb & Haniya one of the Pakistanis hottest duo whose debut album “Chup” is a mix of folk music that draws on the Pashtun heritage, easily fits in the province’s longstanding Sufi tradition. What comes as a natural surprise is that Zeb & Haniya are refreshingly natural; Zeb is the lead vocalist with Haniya also doing vocals and guitar. Their music has matured from the underground to the national scene, bringing a spectrum of style, instrumentation and influence.

At the press conference Zeb & Haniya stated, “There aren’t many women doing what we are doing and it was the novelty factor that gave us the initial push. We are lucky to have some the best musicians in the country associated with our production which includes Meekal Hasan, Shalum Xavier and Gumby.We thank Mobilink and GEO for supporting this initiative as more women would want to come up and display their music talents.”
