Mobilink Torchbearers to read books for children at PIMS

Islamabad: July 31, 2008 – The Mobilink Foundation Torchbearers, an initiative of the Mobilink Volunteer Employees today conducted an invigorating Book-Reading & Coloring activity as part of its CSR initiative. The activity was conducted at the children’s ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

The Torchbearers operating under the umbrella of the Mobilink Foundation are a group of volunteers with the primary objective of reshaping the lives of little hearts (children) in hospitals, orphanages and charitable homes. The activity at PIMS which involved reading books to 45 children in the West Ward and 25 children in the Isolation Ward was the first of a series of similar activities planned by Mobilink Torchbearers throughout the country.

Mr. Arshad Hamid, Mentor of the Mobilink Foundation Torchbearers in the North region said, “This initiative is a very small gesture on the part of our employees; it has more to do with bringing happiness and cheer to the little children at PIMS than anything else and we hope that this activity will be replicated in several other cities by our volunteer groups throughout the country.”

Dr. Majeed Rajput Executive Director PIMS Islamabad was delighted with the dedicated efforts of the Mobilink staff, and opined, “It is a great feeling to see so many young people giving their valuable time and talent in making children happy; what else could one give children other than some quality time and care, and I feel the idea of reading books to the kids was indeed, very enjoyable and comforting.”

The Mobilink Foundation Torchbearers visited the Children’s Ward in PIMS Hospital in Islamabad and read a variety of interesting story-books to the children, while other groups helped kids to make drawings & sketches and coloring them. The children enjoyed the day’s activity as one could see the joy and happiness on their faces. All the books and other material were provided by Mobilink.
