Wasim Akram becomes Mobilink's new Brand Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: February 1st, 2007: Mobilink, Pakistan's leading Cellular Service Company and part of the Orascom Telecom group, with a base of more than 22.5 million in Pakistan, today announced its partnership with the legendary former Captain of the Pakistan Cricket team Wasim Akram, as its official Cricket Brand Ambassador at a press conference held in a local hotel.

The signing ceremony of this agreement took place in Islamabad between the former cricketing star and now a television sports celebrity, and Mobilink. Sports scribes attended the event from leading newspapers and television channels.

Mobilink has associated itself with leading celebrities of every industry and with this new development, expressed pride in bonding a partnership with Wasim Akram as the company's first Cricket Brand Ambassador. The cellular firm has been actively supporting cricket with initiatives such as being the official service provider for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sponsorship of the 20/20 Cup, and other Tests and ODI series.

At the signing ceremony Bilal Munir Sheikh, Vice President Marketing, Mobilink stated, "Wasim Akram, for the nation, has been one of the greatest cricketing legends of all times; he has been a charismatic leader and an inspiration for some of Pakistan's most memorable wins. We believe that through this partnership, cricket in Pakistan will be able to achieve new heights, as he is one of the greatest sportsman in the world of cricket."

Mobilink and Wasim Akram would be working together for the development of Cricket at grass roots level, through talent hunts, cricket clinics, coaching programs and bowling tip segments, in the hope to produce more legends like Wasim in the future. Moreover, Mr. Akram will also be endorsing all the Mobilink brands.
