Orascom profit doubles to $1.2bn

Karachi - December 12, 2007: Orascom Telecom Holding SAE, the parent company of Mobilink, announced its third quarter financial results recently.

According to the figures, Orascom Telecom profit more than doubled as new customers were added to the company's network in emerging markets including Pakistan. Similarly subscribers rose by 5.8 million in the third quarter ended September 2007 to reach 64.7 million while revenue climbed by 23 per cent to $3.47 billion.

The results showed that net income advanced to $1.25 billion from $549 million.

Orascom Telecom is a leading international telecommunications company operating GSM networks in six high growth markets in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, having total population under license of around mobile telephony penetration of about 37 percent on September 30, 2007.
